Meet the Homies Dog Carrier, also known as the Doggybag: a carrier made for real life together, not the trail. Designed in Amsterdam and developed with veterinary professionals, it gives your dog a safe, ergonomic ride on the bike, the train, to the cafe or the vet, hands free for you and calm and close for them.
Every Doggybag has padded straps for comfortable everyday carrying, breathable panels so your dog stays settled, and an internal safety clip to keep them secure. The lining is 50% recycled nylon, and the whole bag is Fairtrade produced by a female-owned factory. Every bag sold donates one meal to a dog shelter.

To make sure your Homies Dog Carrier fits perfectly, measuring your dog is essential. Breed alone is not enough - dogs of the same breed can vary a lot in size.
How to measure your dog (takes 30 seconds)
Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail (back length).
Do not include the tail.
If your dog is between two sizes → size up for comfort.

Size XS – 30-36 cm
Fits dogs with a back length of 30–36 cm
Best for: Toy Poodles, Chihuahuas, very small dogs
Size S – 36-43 cm
Fits dogs with a back length of 36–43 cm
Best for: Standard (not oversized) Dachshunds, Maltipoos, similar small dogs
Size M – 44-53 cm
Fits dogs with a back length of 44–53 cm
Best for: Small to medium labradoodles and similar medium-sized dogs

Fits dogs with a back length of 40-43 cm
Best for: Medium dachshunds, Maltipoos, or similar small dogs
Size M – 51-53 cm
Fits dogs with a back length of 51-53 cm
Best for: Small to medium labradoodles and similar medium-sized dogs
If your dog falls exactly on the highest end of a certain size, please size up. If your dog falls between two sizes, we advise buying the larger size and adding a 5 cm pillow to your order. Or use a towel at the bottom.

How do I get my dog into the carrier?
The most important thing is: practice, practice, practice! The first few times may take some getting used to for your dog, but it really does get easier.
Step-by-step guide:
- Let your dog sniff the bag – Let them get familiar with it first
- Start small – Begin with just a few seconds in the bag, then reward immediately with a treat
- Build up gradually – Increase to 2 minutes, then 5 minutes, always rewarding after each session
- Use the crouch method – Squat down with the bag on your lap, lift your dog in, and let gravity do the rest (this makes it easy to do solo)
- Trust builds confidence – Once your dog realizes it's safe and they get to come along, they'll jump in on their own!
Extra tip: You can also wear the bag in front (like a baby carrier) at first. This works well while walking and helps your dog feel secure.

The bags are produced in a female-owned Fairtrade factory in Bangladesh, adhering to the highest Fairtrade standards, certified by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO).
She is changing the production industry in her country from the inside out and has become one of the 7 advisors of the local government.

How do I know which size to choose?
Measure your dog from the base of the neck to the base of the tail (back length - don't include the tail).
- Size XS (35cm): Fits dogs with back length 30-40cm (Toy Poodles, Chihuahuas, very small dogs)
- Size S (45cm): Fits dogs with back length 40-50cm (Standard Dachshunds, Maltipoos, similar small dogs)
- Size M (55cm): Fits dogs with back length 50-60cm (Labradoodles, similar medium dogs)
Maximum weight for all sizes: 20kg

Is this comfortable for my dog?
Yes! The bag is designed with vet input and tested for ergonomics. It has cushioned support, breathable mesh windows, and proper weight distribution. Your dog should be able to sit naturally with their paws down. Always attach the safety leash to a harness (not a collar) for comfort and security.
Will this work for older dogs or dogs with joint issues?
Yes, many customers use it for senior dogs or pups with mobility issues who can't walk long distances. The bag gives them a safe way to still join adventures. Just make sure they can sit comfortably, and we advise taking regular breaks - see below for guidance.
How long can my dog stay in the bag?
Dogs can stay in the bag as long as they're comfortable and relaxed. For longer trips, take breaks every 1.5 hours for a pee break and leg stretch. You also want to go to the toilet and stretch your legs every 1.5 hours, right? Your dog does too! These regular breaks keep both of you happy and comfortable on longer adventures.
Is this even safe for dachshunds?
Yes! Our bags have been extensively tested and approved by certified veterinary professionals, including specifically for long-backed breeds like dachshunds. The design supports your dog's natural sitting position with proper weight distribution and cushioned support.
The key is correct sizing and usage:
- Measure your dachshund's back length carefully (most standard dachshunds fit size S)
- Always use the internal safety leash attached to a harness (never a collar)
- Support your dog when putting them in and taking them out
- Take regular breaks on longer trips
The bag is designed for transport from A to B, not for extended periods. As long as your dachshund can sit comfortably and you take breaks, they'll be safe and happy in the carrier.
